Ray Matthews, 80 years of Wheelersburg, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born in Vassalboro, Maine on January 6, 1930 the son of the late Alva and Blanche (Towle) Matthews.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Operator Engineer Local #118 in Cincinnati, American Legion Post #0888, V.F.W. Post #15036, and the N.R.A.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Maverick and Della Matthews of Stanton, Kentucky and Shawn and Teresa Matthews of Lima, two daughters; Sara and Summer Matthews both of Wheelersburg, two step sons; Dan and Fred Reed, two step daughters; Kim Green and Melody Stewart both of Peebles, one sister; Regina Fernandez of Florida, half sister Trudy, half brother Dan Matthews of Maine, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Locust Grove Cemetery with Dave Hopkins officiating. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans.
